Bringing your children for a vacation in Africa will be an unforgettable experience for the whole family.

These trips are made suitable for families, with options for conjoining rooms, family rooms, children’s menus & activities.
Some properties will even offer babysitting, or “lodge nannies” that will care for your children as if they were their own. That way you can take a moment to relax and enjoy a well-deserved spa treatment or a long-awaited one on one dinner with your partner, knowing your children are well taken care of.
We can also incorporate child friendly activities in your itineraries, that way you can be sure the suggested itinerary and its activities will suit even your littlest travel companions.
Here are a few factors you will want to consider:
- Many lodges and camps are unfenced, allowing wildlife – including predators like lions, hyenas and leopards to wander through. Therefor these lodges have age restrictions to ensure safety for children. You need a fully fenced lodge, and this will limit lodging options for your trip.
- Some nature parks and game reserves will not allow children under 12 on guided safaris, and activities such as walking safaris or gorilla trekking which will push age restrictions up to 16 years.
- Many lodges and camps however, will allow families with children to book private game-drives. This will allow you to return to camp whenever need-be whether it is for meal time or if your children decide they have had enough.
- You will want to consider destinations in malaria free zones if you are traveling with very young children. Children under a certain age may not be able to take malaria prophylactics.
