“If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

Ekspedisjoner

Tofaraa Expeditions gives you the keys to freedom with fully equipped 4×4 vehicles — rooftop tents, long-range fuel tanks, fridges, gas bottles, cookware, and all the essentials you’ll need when venturing off the beaten path. All vehicles come with the necessary paperwork for smooth, cross-border travel.

Choose between two ways to explore:

  • Self-Drive Expeditions are for the truly independent traveller. Plan your own route and set your own pace. We supply the vehicle — and if needed, assist with route planning and campsite bookings.

  • Guided Expeditions take things further. Drive with the support of an expert guide, your own chef, and all meals and drinks included. We handle the admin and logistics — you focus on the road, the wildlife, and relaxing under the stars with a Gin & Tonic in hand.

Go full bush with a camping-only setup, or mix it up with hand-picked luxury lodges for the perfect blend of rugged adventure and refined comfort.
There’s something uniquely rewarding about days spent deep in the wild, followed by the simple luxury of a hot shower, a soft bed — and being completely pampered.

Overland Africa - Guidelines

  • Camp only in designated campsites.

  • Always sleep inside your tent, rooftop tent, or vehicle — never with arms or legs sticking out.

  • Do not camp or sleep on bridges or along animal paths, especially those used by elephants or hippos.

  • Use rubbish bins at campsites. If none are available, take your waste with you until the next town.

  • Cigarette butts must be completely extinguished and disposed of properly — never tossed on the ground.

  • Avoid swimming or drinking from still water — bilharzia can be a serious risk.

  • Ensure your campfire is fully out after use. Smother with sand if necessary.

  • Supervise children at all times. Never leave them alone, and never let them nap on the ground or in the open.

  • Do not stray far from camp or walk in the bush unless accompanied by a qualified guide.

  • In the Okavango Delta and other wildlife-rich areas, do not swim in streams or lagoons due to the presence of crocodiles or hippos.

  • Drive on the left side of the road. Remain alert of wild animals and livestock at all times

  • Speed limits:
    120 km/h on tarred roads
60 km/h in towns and villages
Max 40 km/h in wildlife areas — for your safety and theirs
